My First Book Cover
Due to the fact that I upload most of my photographs to WikiCommons (the media repository for Wikipedia) and make them available for anyone to use – free of restrictions and free of charge – my pictures show up in all sorts of cool and interesting places.
At last count, the Encyclopædia Britannica was using 8 of my photos, the National Park Service uses a bunch on their websites and printed brochures, a couple of municipalities use them in their marketing materials, and of course they pop up on blogs and personal websites all the time. I’ve found the photos are especially popular with teachers for use in educational projects, because teachers are constantly having to worry about copyright and royalty issues.
My photos have also been used to illustrate a couple of books, but as far as I’m aware this is my first book cover. It’s a young adult title being published by a company in the Netherlands called Olga Kinderboeken. Translated, the title is The Youngest Spy in the World. As I understand it, the book will be released in Dutch first, then Spanish, with possible future releases in English and other languages depending on sales, I guess.
Not a big deal, but I thought it was pretty cool.
