Pretty much my favoritest thing ever, the Peachoid (I'm not kidding, that's really what it's called) is a water tower that sits next to I-85 near the town of Gaffney, SC.
Here's the scoop on the Peachoid: Back in the late 70's, the town of Gaffney decided that they needed a new water tower. In those days, the Federal government was awarding grants to communities to build tourist attractions, and some local "outdoor artist" convinced the Gaffney town council that if they made the new water tower look like a huge peach, they could basically get a free water tower out of the deal. So the town spent a buttload of money on it, and the Feds never did pay up, but Gaffney can claim to own one of the most prominent and genuinely hilarious eyesores I've ever seen.
